So Andrew Lansley is expected to promise to cut £1bn a year in "central bureaucracy". The Food Standards Agency is one of several quangos thought likely to go.
It seems to have missed Lansley's brain (and that of his master, iDave) that we could cut the most central bureaucracy of all and save £6+billion - soon to rise to £10+billion - a year.
