Freedom To Choose

Raedwald has an interesting post on a decision in the Netherlands by their courts on the question of the smoking ban.

Question: Has anyone tried the defense of staff signing a waiver to any objection to smoking? Are there any pubs in the UK run only by family members?

    Well yeah, like commonsense solutions are going to fly in this country - you may as well expect a potential employee to be allowed to work for less than the NMW, for example.

    It's clear that an alternative to the blanket ban would be a vote winner (see the Mail article comments for example), but which party is going to grasp the nettle?

    Apart from UKIP & LPUK of course. ;-)
