A former law lord gets it wrong - again

The Telegraph has a piece by The Rt Hon Lord Lloyd of Berwick, a former law lord.

Perhaps if former law lords, together with the remainder of our parliamentarians, concentrated their minds on the European Communities Act 1972, which is also sorely in need of an overhaul, we might then be better placed to decide matters in our own country!

No mention that both victim and perp were low life scumbags that the world was better off without.

Couldn't disagree more. He is right and I can see no relevance whatsoever to the European Communities Act. Why did you contrive to work that one in?

As someone who has had a terminal diagnosis and is a member of Dignitas, I should like to see this whole area of the law completely overhauled.

thefatlady: extremely sorry to hear of your plight, truly.

Notwithstanding, why does the law need to be involved in a matter which really is personal choice - ie, whos life is it, the govt or ours.

As to my bringing the EU into the matter, it won't be long before they have total control of our lawmaking ability and if such matters are to be decided in the courts then it shud be in our courts and not Strasbourg!

I agree completely with your reply. This is my life and how or when I wish to end it is nobody else's business, least of all the govt.

Your last paragraph is valid in general, but is not relevant to this particular matter.
