Tart as in Sarcastic

Courtesy of the UKIP Blog and England Expects we learn that during the visit of President Vaclav Klaus to Dublin, whilst he was talking to Irish Taoiseach, Brian Cowen, the two First Ladies were also having their own chat.

Mary Molloy, wife of Brian Cowen, remarked that the Irish had "voted wrongly" when they rejected the Lisbon Treaty. Upon which, Livia Klausova,  a respected economist, responded, "Well were they wrong when they elected your husband?"

Given that Cowen, like Brown was not elected as PM that ripose was, it could be claimed, a tad tart.

Personally, I don't consider it tart one bit - in fact I find it oh so totally and deliciously sarcastic!
