Predators

It is sometimes said that reports in the media need to be read 'between the lines'. As an example I give you the following in which I have attempted to convert 'news speak' to 'us speak'.

In its editorial today the Daily Telegraph, discussing the instance of a buzzard 'taking' a phalarope, says: (with my translation inserted)

"It sometimes seems perverse of  the RSPB (the Government) so vehemently to protect thriving predators (Quangos/Public Sector) which prey on rarer species. (the private-sector, tax-paying electorate)

For once (for the Telegraph) - never a truer word spoken!
