To Coin A Phrase - Its The Sun What Said It

Normally not being a reader of the Sun it was surprising to come across Ted Kavanagh's article - do go read it!

"Our plight is worse than most because we have spent and borrowed the money that might have helped us through.

How does Gordon Brown have the gall to suggest he alone knows how best to spend our money?

Meanwhile, the Treasury will throw caution to the wind and borrow a trillion pounds for the biggest spending spree in human history. Yet nobody seriously suggests saving a cent or laying off a single £35,000-a-year street football co-ordinator.

Bungling ministers waste a fortune on social engineering projects which do little to make Britain stronger but a lot to boost Labour’s core vote.

The Government keeps a standing army of five million benefit claimants while leaving our armed forces on short rations. A fortune goes on fattening the State cow, with six million people — one in four workers — now paid by the taxpayer."

The Sun in general and TK in particular are highly sophisticated in getting across a political message. I often find myself agreeing with them (which is a bit worrying - I still don't know whether they favour Labour, the Tories or even UKIP).

Where TK is way off piste is with the 6 million paid by the taxpayer - it's not, it's 8 million, although one-in-four is correct.

Just reporting what was said Mark and remember what happened the last time the Sun reported "It was the Sun what said it". Labour got consigned to the wilderness for 18 years - lets hope this time it is for ever?
