The comment is often made that in Britain we live in a 'police state' similar to that of the 'East Germany' that was.
It does indeed appear that police are keeping tabs on activists from across the political spectrum, documents obtained by EU civil liberties reveal. As is well known the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) are unelected and unaccountable.
"The scheme has a central database held by the national public order intelligence unit, a secretive body funded by the Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo)." (my emphasis)
Need one say any more?
