The Will Of The People

Just a couple of days ago, in the House of Lords, Lord Pearson: "To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they will commission an independent cost-benefit analysis of the United Kingdom's membership of the European Union." Lord Howell, on behalf of the Government, replied: "The Government have no plans to commission such an analysis. We believe that membership of the EU is in the national interest of the United Kingdom...."

Recent opinion polls have repeatedly stated that a majority of the British people do not believe membership of the EU
is in the national interest. That translates as a few million British people versus a few hundred politicians. On the basis that elected Members of Parliament are supposed to reflect the will of the people, don't you just love to see 'representative democracy' - aka 'democratised dictatorship' - in action? No wonder our political elite (the CamerLeggs) do not want to see the alternative - 'direct democracy' - enacted.

As Mom used to say "If you want something done right, you must do it yourself."
