Cost Of Climate Change

Recently the government 'slipped out', without any notification to Parliament, a large revision in the costs and benefits of the above Act. For a government always trumpeting the special place Parliament has in our democracy, they sure have an odd way of showing it with the release of statistics and policy announcements through the media.

Following his allegation that the government's own figures show an increased liability to every household of between £16,000 and £20,000, Peter Lilley has written to Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.

On a personal note one feels a warning to our SSECC is in order. Not being an MP with recourse to allowances and expenses which can be 'massaged' within the rules, one does not have £16,000/£20,000 and if such a sum was available it certainly would not be 'given' to the SSECC just so he can fulfill the requirements of a directive/regulation, of dubious beneficial content, issued by our rulers in Brussels.
