Mistaken Identity

A case of mistaken identity by Salford council is reported in the print edition of the Daily Telegraph today.

"A woman was sent a letter wrongly informing her that her husband had died in a care home. Salford council has apologised for telling Barbara Flinton 73, her husband John, 77, had died weeks after moving into the home as he recovered from a stroke."

You what? WTF!

Oh, its okay though, the council has apologised - and no doubt the signatory to the letter is still employed and can look forward to enjoying their public sector pension on their retirement.

How on earth was such a mistake made and, more importantly, the signatory believed it perfectly in order to break this news by letter?

I say again -
WTF!
