Politicians would wish us to respect them for their superior intellect, for their position as MPs and guardians of the country's well-being and status in the world.
I was struck by Keith Vaz, on Newsnight last night, and David Miliband, who is quoted in today's article by Philip Johnston in the Telegraph, both pontificating on Geert Wilders and his film whilst admitting they had not seen the film! A tad akin to Ken Clarke pontificating about membership of the European Union, whilst reportedly admitting he had not even read the EU Constitution!
And we are supposed to hold them in awe???
How the few bring the majority into disrepute!
