If Only......

Ian PJ on Politics has a post that is well worth reading, although I have to disagree with commenter Phil Kean's remark about UKIP (but then I would, would I not?). I totally agree with IPJ that the electorate need to contact all candidates in their constituency and press them to sign the Albion Alliance pledge, in order that regardless of which party forms the next government, hopefully a referendum would be a 'given'.

To turn to Phil Kean's point, UKIP are the only party with a realistic chance of halting the Lib/Lab/Con programme for the absorption of the UK into the EU. Likewise they are the only party having that realistic chance, offering what may be called  in iDave's words 'outmoded, or old-style, Conservatism' - and regardless of party it is where 'protest' votes should be placed when marking one's ballot paper. That statement will no doubt upset supporters of other Eurosceptic parties, but  other Eurosceptic parties are not fielding the number of candidates as is UKIP.

It is also acknowledged that in 'rock-solid' constituencies, to unseat the sitting candidate is but a dream; but to take Witney as an example, the chance of unseating Cameron is not even remotely possible, however the local UKIP branch are making every attempt to repeat their Euro performance and in so doing cut his majority by a significant amount. By supporters of UKIP voting in those constituencies that are not 'rock-solid' - who knows how many of their candidates may get elected?

To all those voters who are fed up with EU rule, who are fed up with the present state of our political system, who are fed up with the present 'one-party state', who want a greater say in forming the type of society in which they wish to live, give UKIP your vote - you know it makes sense!

Aye and there's the rub.
