Why Bother With Principles When Power Beckons

Mark Seddon, writing in the Mail, has an article which carries the headline "What on Earth's the point of Nick Clegg?"
"Go to Sheffield, where he is an MP, and you will find they haven’t just gone cool on Britain’s coalition Deputy Prime Minister, they are apoplectic over the way he has sold out to the Tory project."
Likewise, there are many die-hard Conservatives in Cameron's Witney constituency who also feel betrayed and are visibly annoyed.........feeling they too have been 'taken for a ride' and that Cameron has 'sold out to the LibDems'.

Yup - When power beckons, principles are forgotten

Part of the problem is many voters see the Lib Dems as Labour lite (with the exception of orange bookers) Associating with the Tories has upset both sets of supporters who see it as a betrayal of principle. It's probably why it wont last.

Aye QM, it won't probably last as also the Tories are seen as LibDem 'heavy' - thanks to Cameron and his 'liberal' ideas.

This is indeed one experiment doomed to fail from the outset.

The failure cannot come soon enough.
