The BBC reports that the Local Government Association (LGA) has suggested that, with the proposal to close some courts, town hall chambers could be 'rented' by the Justice Department. The 'LGA Media Release' can be read here.

Leaving to one side the additional costs of security, transportation of those being held by police awaiting trial, disruption to normal town hall business etc etc, from where does the money come to pay for this, or the costs of the existing courts earmarked for closure?
Shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic?
