Tax Accountability - Possible Scheme?

A growing number of people would like to know where the money, that is forcibly taken from their wage packets before said wage packets are to hand, goes - ie how and where it gets spent.

I see such information is available in Missouri, US of A, and might it not be a good idea here? The Coffee House reports that way, way back George Osborne promised to publish on-line every item of public expenditure over £25,000.

My thinking is that any scheme that means politicians become more accountable to us, the people, can only be good. This would also be one step in ensuring that the state once more becomes a servant of the people and not, as is the case under this collection of amateur f'wits, the opposite.
