Remembering that Peter Mandelson is in receipt of a pension from the European Union, a pension that is dependent on his not being critical of that body, one has to ask how he can 'stand up' for British interests; something which he cannot do, also for another reason. As Janet Daley pointed out in her comment piece in the Daily Telegraph today, "......it is now illegal – illegal – for the government of an EU country to put the needs and concerns of its own population first."
It is obvious there are arguments in favour of the free movement of people and their right to work, but this can be arranged between governments and does not require membership of an authoritarian body to accomplish.
