More Government Spin!

As previously posted Gordon Brown was quoted as saying that 'he did not intend to apply for funds for Britain, despite opponents warning that the country will soon need a bail-out due to the growing deficit in the public finances.'

Now the Telegraph has an article reporting a Senior Government Minister saying that if we do apply to the IMF it will not be like 1976 when the Labour government 'bail-out' was seen as a national humiliation. "Previously a country would only go if they were in a very bad state. It was a bit like going to accident and emergency to get urgent help. This new facility will not be like that. It is a bit more like getting wellbeing care or even like going to a spa to recuperate."

Weigh the statement above with that of Simon Johnson, the former IMF chief economist!

Just because Government Ministers are complete idiots and believe their own 'hype', there is no need for them to assume that the electorate are and do!
