In less than five years David Miliband spent just under £30,000 - a quarter of the purchase price - on decorating, furniture and gardening for his modest second home. His expense claims included a £9,000 kitchen, £6,000 on repairs to his front drive, new garage doors, a hand-crafted chair, a goose-down duvet and a 'Gatsby' chair.
There are some things money can't buy
For everything else there is the British taxpayer.
