Doing What You Are Told

There are times in one's life when doing what you are told has to be refused due to the fact that commonsense tells you it is wrong - something that MPs would have been better remembering, but I digress.......

A story in the print edition of the Daily Telegraph today reports on the case of  a supermarket delivery van driver in Lancashire who became stranded on a narrow footpath after his satnave sent him down what turned out to be an impassable lane. Despite being just 3ft wide and surrounded by dense foliage, the Asda driver, in his 6ft wide vehicle, continued to follow the electronic directions - which resulted in it taking the RAC about an hour to extract the vehicle. The report ends with the fact that figures suggest approximately 300,000 accidents were caused last year by satnav systems.

No, it is perfectly reasonable to suggest - if this story is the norm - that it was not the fault of satnav  systems but more the fault of brain-dead idiots behind the wheel!

Well at least, given that it was an ASDA lorry, they probably had no shortage of grease to hand...
