Answer The Question

During his time on the Opposition benches in the House of Commons Call Me Dave used to bitterly complain that Gordon Brown never did answer questions he, Cameron, posed. The disease seems contagious as today, in response to Douglas Carswell (17.33mins in), Call Me Dave totally ignored one half of the question*.

Whilst it was nice to see Douglas Carswell yet again attempting to embarrass the Libservative government he must surely know that on the question of the British people being granted a referendum on EU membership he is banging his head against a brick wall.

*Odd really, when on 2nd June (21.18mins in) he stated he would give accurate answers rather than make them up on the spot!

I thought he did better, Mr W and there's something for enjoying a moment as it is. It's early days but the dynamics of the House have certainly changed - there's much more energy.

I know all the arguments about the EU but, let's face it, that's a battle that won't be won by Westminster, it will be won by the people. PMQs is pleasant froth - and I enjoy it.

Don't get sucked-in GV by the Boy's smarm, please.

Give it time - your eyes will be opened!

I'm not sucked in Mr W, as you'll know if you read my blog, but there are two levels here - the over-arching EU and the day-to-day politics of Westminster. It is possible to enjoy something for its own sake.

In the meantime we are being stuffed by the EU and Cameron is going along with it. He is not, and never has been nor ever will be a EUrosceptic. He hates anything British and will be behind every EU initiative to ruin us all. He will be in the forefront of calling for "world government" before long.

We've been steuffed for decades, Derek. I don't see how holding back for a few minutes makes any difference. Let's face it, we're not on the streets are we?

Get a perspective and a soh.

Anonymous (Derek) and GV,

I can see both sides of your arguments, however I do question how long we must wait and whilst waiting how much more 'damage' is going to be done to us in the meantime, so I therefore tend to favour Derek's view.

To a certain extent I feel we have waited enough and that if one is going to cut out a cancer (which is what the EU surely is) then the earlier one operates the better. It is also a fact that Call Me Dave has had 5/6 years to devise a policy on the EU and if he was truly Eurosceptic we would not be where we are now.

You, GV, may feel differently?

I take your point Mr W but, as I said, we won't know until the autumn where we stand - a few more weeks of waiting won't make any difference at all.

You know my views very well, not dissimilar to yours, and they haven't changed - I've been blogging about it for over a year so I'm as equally frustrated as you but sometimes we just need to find an extra drop of patience.

Accept what you say and why, GV.

Unfortunately of the many attributes that I lack, patience is one of them.

Hey ho!
