Today in the House of Commons, during questions to Gordon Brown on the outcome of the recent European Council summit, a question from Labour MP Ian Davidson made reference to the news that the Conservatives have indicated they are unlikely to 'un-pick' the Lisbon Treaty via a referendum if it has already been ratified. He suggested that those who "capitulate" on their pledges betray the promises made to the British people.

Indeed Mr. Davidson, those who "capitulate" on their pledges do indeed betray the promises made to the British people - be they Labour or Conservative!
And they still consider themselves 'Honourable'? FFS!

They neither know nor practice honour in their dealings with those of us who elect them. "Manifesto promises are not subject to legitimate expectation" as the Labour brief said during a court hearing over the Lisbon Treaty referendum. It seems to apply to Tories as well as Labour and no doubt Lib Dems as well.
Like many others I will be voting independent during the next general election as the mainstream parties no longer represent my views anymore.
