You Can't Get A Cigarette Paper Between Them

The heading is a quote from Nigel Farage (UK Independence Party) discussing the Con/Lab/LibDem policies on Europe, which can also be levied at them on other matters.

David Cameron has said he wishes to devolve power downwards, has said that quangos need culling and yet it could well be that these are 'empty' words, similar to his views on EU membership.

Writing in the Daily Telegraph, Benedict Brogan highlights an important matter when he says "Mr Cameron's pledge to cut back on quangos notwithstanding, plenty of them – there are more than 1,000 – will survive and will require a purge of politically correct Labour appointees."

Immediately apparent is that we will then have a situation whereby those 'politically friendly' appointees, engineered by Gordon Brown, will be dispensed with and replaced by 'politically friendly' appointees engineered by David Cameron. Likewise the House of Lords 'balance' will be changed by the appointment of numbers of new Conservative Peers.

And so the game of 'musical chairs' continues - as Nigel Farage said "You really can't get a cigarette paper between them."

Update: I have just noticed that Raedwald has also posted on this subject and his sentiment at the end is true - Perhaps between now and next May Mr Cameron can tell us why we, who will gain nothing from Conservative patronage, should vote to enable him to dispense it to others.
