Courtesy of Autonomous Mind comes this story.
The quote on AM is hilarious, especially when compared to that of a member of Gloucestershire Police:
"Inspector Stephen Norris, of Gloucestershire Police, said: "The organisers of the event, the Cooper's Hill Cheese Rolling Committee (CHCRC), have an obligation to ensure the safety of those attending. Gloucestershire Constabulary and Gloucestershire County Council have been working with the members of the committee advising them as to how to create a safer event following concerns from previous years."
Heaven knows how many man hours were involved in 'working with' members of the CHCRC and what the carbon emissions were in travelling to those meetings. Perhaps, instead of worrying about people fainting, falling out of trees and suffering untold damage to their bodies - all as a result of personal choice - members of our law enforcement agency would be better employed investigating those who are obviously 'off their trolley'.
Update: Courtesy of An Englishman's Castle I find this video, which demonstrates people having fun - and some jobsworth decides it has to be banned?? WTF

I couldn't but laugh even more when the Google Ad at the bottom of the video read 'True Love hard to find?'
Is that advertising or social commentary..?
BTS,
Well, they all managed to 'get their legs over', did they not?
But it did appear to be mainly with that bald chap waiting at the bottom.
BTS,
I'll disregard your addendum! One has to remember 'equality' 'diversity' etc.
Fair enough, but I'd rather not know the specifics about how the cheese fits into all this..
