Its Defence Stupid, Not Child Benefit

Much has been written about the Tory unfairness in their policy for cuts in child benefit and the possible friction this may cause within the Coalition. However it would seem that Defence is far more likely to be the cause of friction - if this report is true.

Of course the named individuals would need to deliver on the reported promise, as would Liam Fox. It would also be necessary for Fox to 'retire' to the back benches and from there to cause as much trouble as he could, even mounting a 'putsch' for the leadership.

Needless to say, Fox does have some questions to answer. Known as a Eurosceptic, exactly how eurosceptic is he? Does he have alternative policies on education, health, welfare and cuts that would attract the attention of his party's 'right'? Would those ministers presently serving Cameron change horses (don't see why not as principles is not something that seems very high on a politicians list of requirement for office).

It would be an interesting scenario though were Fox and his team to resign and to see how David Cameron handled that little problem.

H/T: Calling England who pointed me to this story.
