This Trick Has Been Played On The Electorate Previously

Jean Monnet: "Europe's nations should be guided towards a super state without their people understanding what is happening. This can be accomplished by successive steps each disguised as having an economic purpose, but which will eventually and irreversibly lead to federation."

Michael Gove: "Like a conjuror, we'll get more applause if the audience cannot see exactly how the trick is performed ......The party has little direct leverage over associations, consisting of volunteers who guard their local autonomy jealously and value their ability to choose future MPs. Nevertheless not only can objections be overcome, they MUST be overcome. The clever approach is to maintain the illusion that a good cross-section of approved candidates is being offered."

And the difference is???

Whilst it has, for some time, been obvious that the three main parties are all now, by nature, left-of-centre it is now also obvious that the Conservative Party are far from 'democratic' and are, in fact, authoritarian!

Update: Goodnight Vienna also posts on this

Good comparison, WfW. Evidently it's not just Labour which treats the populace like fools.

I had thought Gove was one of the good guys ...

Don't you believe it, Angel. I attended an anti-EU meeting in Woking some months ago and Gove is as anti-EU as Cameron!
