The Ties That Bind

Iain Martin posts on the type of tie worn by the leaders of the Cleggeron Party and poses the question of why they both always appear in plain ties.

Leaving aside that plain ties suggest blandness (applicable), lack of design (applicable), lack of vision for something different (applicable),  perhaps it is also because neither of them could find a pattern tie featuring 'U' turns?
